“Our two year olds loved this! We’d love to come again!”
“Warm, lovely introduction to theatre for my little boy”
(The Paper Moon audience feedback)
Tiny Light is an Oxford based theatre company creating work for babies and children. We are generously supported by Arts Council England. We also run Tiny Ideas Early Years Arts Festival every Autumn with fellow theatremakers Wild Boor Ideas. This year we’re developing a new baby show, Bloom, through the festival and in collaboration with Wild Boor. It’ll be touring libraries and venues this Spring.
In 2022 we debuted our digital commission from Little Angel Theatre, Sweet Porridge! A fairy tale for 4-7 year olds, with added fibre, it can be watched on their website here. Why not get messy and play with your food!
Most recently we’ve made and toured Snow and The Story Island. Snow is a magical winter co-production with The Theatre Chipping Norton and The Mill Arts Centre Banbury for 0-5 year olds, and was developed as part of an international residency at the Handbendi Brúðuleikhús HQ in Northern Iceland.
The Story Island is a our first digital/at home show all about imagination and the power of storytelling, for 3-7 year olds.
Our first show for under 3s, The Paper Moon, made its debut at Offbeat Festival in 2017 and has since toured the UK. A gently interactive piece for babies and very young children (and their grown-ups!) it was followed by POP! a gentle exploration of bubbles, balloons, bath time and bedtime for 0-3 year olds and their families. POP! was developed whilst we were SPARK supported artists at Pegasus Theatre and toured the UK (and Iceland!) in 2019/20.
Founded in 2013 by Anna Tolputt and Ceri Ashcroft our first production, Cat in the Cupboard (the extraordinary tale of an expanding cat for 4-7 year olds, where cats roam large and small girls are very very clever) was developed with the support of Pegasus Theatre, The Theatre Chipping Norton, The Orange Tree, Barefoot Books and Little Angel. Cat in the Cupboard premiered at Little Angel‘s FIRSTS festival in March 2014 and has since been touring festivals and rural venues.
